This is an original 1905 black and white photolithograph of the ancient Trojan priest, Laocoön. According to legend, he was the only Trojan to see past the ruse of the Wooden Horse and attempted to burn it with the Greeks still hidden inside. This angered the goddess Athena and so she caused an earthquake that blinded Laocoön, then sent a pair of sea serpents from Poseidon to strangle both him and his two sons. Moral of the story is that if you're a know it all, you will eventually be strangled.
