1847 Rogers Bros. Silver.

Asa, Simeon and William Rogers are the brothers who established the product line Ò1847 Rogers Bros Silver.Ó They started their silverware business in the 1840s, with a shop in Hartford, Connecticut. After perfecting the electroplating technique (placing a thin layer of silver over a base metal) in 1847, the brothers manufactured Olive: the first fancy electroplate flatware pattern. Popular patterns produced by the company included Columbia, Charter Oak, Ancestral, Adoration, First Love, Daffodil and Vintage.

In 1862, the Meriden Britannia Company (now known as the International Silver Company) purchased the Ò1847 Rogers Bros. SilverÓ brand and forced a relocation to their home base in Meriden, Connecticut. To date, the Ò1847 Rogers Bros SilverÓ trademark is said to be still featured on their products.
