This is an original 1906 black and white print ad for Mullins Pressed Steel Boats. Founded by W.H. Mullins, The Mullins Metal Stamping Company began production of steel boats in 1906, but had previously produced other metal products, such as metal roofing, skylights, statues and more. The original boats manufactured came in 9-foot and 15-foot sizes and sold for between $50-$100. When the automobile surge hit around 1911, the company began stamping parts for startup automobile companies. During WWI, Mullins Metal Stamping Company produced various parts for military aircrafts, as well as parts for gas masks; however, postwar the need for statue and decorative metal declined significantly. In order to survive, the company began to dedicate their business to the automotive field. Unfortunately, by the mid 1920s, automotive companies began cultivating their own stamping facilities, and after much hardship, the Great Depression and quick changing times, Mullins Metal Stamping Company was forced to merge with a stronger business in 1937, Youngstown Pressed Steel.
