This is an original 1906 black and white halftone print of a portrait of General Józef Grzegorz Chłopicki (1771-1854). He began his military career in 1785 and fought for Poland in the Uprising of 1794 against the Russian Empire and Prussia. He also commanded the 1st Vistulan Regiment during the War of the Fourth Coalition (Part of the Napoleonic Wars), where he was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General. He later accepted the dictatorship during the November Uprising of 1830-31, but resigned from the position after a few months.

This 105+ year old Item is rated Very Fine +++. Light aging throughout. Light creasing. There is light bleedthrough on this piece from the verso.
