This is an original 1906 black and white halftone print of a portrait of Polish historian and political activist Joachim Lelewel (1786-1861). He participated in the November Uprising of 1830-31 against the Russian Empire. He later helped found the Democratic Society for Unity and Brotherhood of All Peoples with Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels.
