Kieler Yacht-Club, also known as the Kiel Yacht Club is well-known for the yacht racing events, and is one of the oldest yacht clubs in Germany. The main yacht racing event is the yearly Kieler Woche, the biggest sailing event in the world. Kiel Yacht Club ran into serious financial difficulties and had to sell its club house to the ThyssenKrupp Company , in 2007.

Kiel is the capital and most populous city in the northern German state of Schleswig-Holstein.
