This is an original 1906 black and white halftone print of Newcastle upon Tyne which is a city located in northeast England. The original sketch in this print was created by Myles Birket Foster (1825-1899) who was an English watercolor artist and illustrator. He was born in North Shields, England, to a Quaker family. Foster was apprenticed to a wood engraver named Ebenezer Landells in London and worked as an illustrator for books and periodicals. He is also known for his landscapes which he painted as he traveled throughout Europe.
