This is an original 1907 black and white photogravure of the faade of Notre Dame in Paris, France. This Gothic, Roman Catholic cathedral contains the official chair of the Archbishop of Paris. This structure was among the first to use flying buttresses (arched exterior supports) and while they were building the thin, high walls, they began to crack and had to place statues to cover and hold up the supports.
