This is an original 1907 sepia photogravure of a piece by Venetian Renaissance artist Vittore Carpaccio (c. 1465-1525), who is best known for his conservative, large-scale detachable wall-paintings, which were not as humanistic in nature as the work of his other Italian contemporaries. Here we see Saint Vitalis surrounded by many recognizable religious figures, including Mary and the Christ child observing from the heavens.
