Alfred Heaton Cooper
Alfred Heaton Cooper was born in Manchester, England in 1863. He moved to London in 1884 to study art under George Clausen. He later traveled in Yorkshire and abroad in Morocco, and in Norway, he met and married his wife and lived there for some time, having an interest in the way of life there, which is reflected in his paintings of that area. From there he moved back to Bolton, England, where he grew up, and lived and painted in the Lake District where he could sell his art primarily to tourists. He died in the Lake District in 1929. He was known for his paintings of Norway and the Lake District of Bolton; and for his illustrations for travel guide books.
