This is an original 1908 duotone halftone print of a large square in Rome, Italy, named the Piazza del Popolo. This was the locations of centuries of public executions, the last of which took place in 1826. At the center of the piazza stands the Egyptian obelisk of Ramses II from Heliopolis. The twin churches of Santa Maria in Monetsanto and Santa Maria dei Miracoli can be seen in the background.
