Frank X. Leyendecker
(1877-1924) Frank X. Leyendecker was born Franz X. Leyendecker in Montabaur, Germany, the younger brother of Joseph Christian Leyendecker, who was the more famous illustrator. Both of the brothers had considerable talent and as neither married they lived together on a large studio estate in New Rochelle, New York. Frank studied at Art Institute of Chicago and at the Julian Academy in Paris. He did many covers for Collier's, The Popular Magazine, McClure's, Life, Vanity Fair, Vogue, Success, and The Saturday Evening Post.
