The first Byron Hot Springs hotel was erected in the 1899, but burned down in 1901. The hotel was rebuilt on the property around 1901; however, that building also burned down in 1912. Finally, a third hotel was built in 1913, and though the estate still stands it has been abandoned since the late 1940s. As of 2009, plans were in process to restore the historic hotel.
Interesting Fact:
During the World War II era, the United States Army utilized the resort as an interrogation housing unit for German and Japanese prisoners of war.
