1910 Print Ellis Landing Shellmound Human Skeleton Distribution Map XGZ9
A shellmound or midden is a wasteland used by previous human settlements, which accumulated with domestic waste containing shells, animal bones, human excrement, vermin and other ecological and human waste products. These pits were originally created by nomadic groups, who generally utilized the disposal area a single time before moving on. However, sedentary communities would use the dumps for extended periods of time. This particular shellmound was located near San Francisco Bay and the Richmond Inner Harbor in California.

This 101+ year old Item is rated Very Fine ++. Light aging throughout. No natural defects. No surface rub. No tears. No water damage. Please note the original mailing creases, as well as the tears at either end of the horizontal crease near the lower portion of the print.
