The caption reads, "As the hands of the clock approached eleven on the evening of September 15, 1910, President Diaz waved the flag of his country and pulled the cord that caused the liberty bell to sound, as did Hidalgo in Dolores 100 years ago. As the cry of 'Viva Independencia' went up, it was answered by tens of thousands of voices around the National Palace, and the new century had begun."
