This is an original 1911 halftone print featuring an image of a young sea elephant in Carl Hagenbeck's Hamburg Animal Park in Germany.

Carl Hagenbeck was a merchant of wild animals who supplied many European zoos, as well as P.T. Barnum. Phineas Taylor Barnum was an American showman, businessman, and entertainer. Barnum was remembered for promoting celebrated hoaxes and for founding the circus that became the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.
