This is an original 1912 color print of a Calvinist Dutch noble drinking from a wooden bowl before passing it to his neighbor. This confederacy opposed the Spanish rule in the Netherlands and to fight back they formed this group. They decided on the name "Beggars" to scare their opponent.
The original was illustrated by Allan Stewart and Mima Nixon.
