This is an original 1912 halftone print of the Temple of Hachiman (Tsurugaoka Hachiman-gu) The God of War. Throughout the years, this temple's storied history involves a cross country move at the behest of Minamoto no Yorimoto in 1191 in the name of the Kamakura shogunate, the assassination of Minamoto no Sanetomo in the winter of 1219 to being a modern tourist attraction and still serves as a place of worship.
