This is an original 1913 black and white halftone print of General Toscheff of Bulgaria. He was a commanding general at the Battle of Kirk-Kilissé during the Balkan War. He ordered the Taranova regiment to pursue the retreating Turkish forces, however only 1,200 of the 9,000 soldiers of the regiment returned. Disgraced, and stripped of his rank by King Ferdinand, Gen. Toscheff committed suicide shortly afterward.
