This is an original 1913 tipped-in halftone print of famous Glasgow beggar William Cameron, aka "Hawkie." Born in Stirling around 1790, he injured his leg as a child, which kept him on crutches for the rest of his life. Despite his decrepit appearance, he was a well-known character famed for his witty repartees and the contents of his chapbooks.
