This is an original 1915 halftone print featuring an image of the front of the South Side High School in Newark, New Jersey. The building was designed by architect E. F. Guilbert. In 1972, the South Side High School was renamed the Malcom X Shabazz High School. Notable alumni include Washington Mystics WNBA player Matee Ajavon, Los Angeles Clippers NBA player Anthony Avent, Former Mayor of New York City Ed Koch, Former Tight End for the Chicago Bears Greg Latta and Defensive End for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Stylez G. White (Greg White), among others.

Architect Ernest F. Guilbert was part of the architecture firm Guilbert and (James Oscar) Betelle, which specialized in the design of high schools on the East Coast. Their architectural style often imitated what is known as "Collegiate Gothic."
