John Singleton Copley
John Singleton Copley (1738-1815) was an American artist hailing from Boston, Massachusetts, prior to relocating to London, where he received his formal art education at the Royal Academy Schools of London. He was most recognized for his paintings, miniatures, printmaking, fresco murals, graphic art design and mosaics, as well as his realism style. His works primarily centered on animals, figures, genre, portraits, religion, seascapes, statues and sculptures, marine and nautical, military and war, still life and historical subjects. CopleyÕs art has been exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts in London, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, the Boston Art Club and more. He was also affiliated with the Brooklyn Art Association.
