This is an original 1920 duotone photogravure on classic laid stock for "Salon of Châeau de la Robertsau, Near Strasbourg." The furniture is from the time of Louis XVI, and the tapestries are Aubusson. At the time of this image, it was owned by la Comtesse de Pourtalès of Paris, France (Republique Française).


This 91+ year old Item is rated Near Mint / Very Fine. Light aging throughout. Light wrinkling. No natural defects. Some light surface rub. No tears. No water damage. Please note that there is printing on the reverse.

Gay, Walter

Walter Gay (1856-1937) was an American painter based in Paris, France. His paintings most often portrayed common peasant life, and he received awards for his work across Europe. After his death, his widow remained in France, unfortunately just in time for the German occupation. In 1943 she passed away in her own home, having been unable to return to her hometown in New York.
