This is an original 1920 black and white halftone print of Fort-de-France, on the Island of Martinique, with a statue immortalizing Josephine, who not only was born on Martinique, but became the wife of Napoleon Bonapart and Empress of France from 1804 to 1810. When it was discovered that she was unable to give Napoleon an heir, he divorced her.
