These ruins survived an earthquake responsible for the evacuation of the majority of Morocco sometime in the 3rd century AD. It is notable because this area was one of the few that were not evacuated by the Romans, who were in power at the time. Not much is known about these ruins, but archaeological expeditions have been uncovering information since the French began excavating the area in 1915, shortly before this image was produced.
