W. J. Aylward

(1875-1956) Aylward was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and he was a student of Howard Pyle. He is best known for his illustrations of the sea and related nautical subjects. He also illustrated Jack London's Sea Wolf, Jules Verne's Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea as well as many other books on naval or marine subjects.
