This is an original 1920 World War I sepia rotogravure of the "Hawkeyes" of the 166th Infantry along side French officers near Badonviller, where this sector is cutting barbed wire in preparation of a raid. The second image shows a trench mortar torpedo exploding in a German trench. The third image shows Frenchmen and the Iowans ("Hawkeyes") advancing upon the enemy. The final image shows Lieutenant Curry entering No Man's Land in Badonviller, France.
