"Britain's Call to Arms"

This is an original 1920 black and white halftone print mini poster by artist Frank Brangwyn. This powerful image was a recruiting poster issued by the Underground Electric Railways Company of London, 1914.

Period Paper is pleased to offer a rare collection of mini posters (both color and black and white) from the World War I era. During this time the poster was recognized for its propaganda value as well as for its commercial value, and our collection reflects the use of poster art as propaganda. This collection represents the work of various artists from the United States, Europe, and other countries involved in or affected by the conflict. Although, as "mini posters" they are but a fraction of the size of the original, their powerful graphic designs and bold colors make them highly collectible pieces for the war historian or poster art collector. Each poster is very well preserved and would look magnificent framed.
