This is an original 1921 halftone print of the highest active volcano in Japan, Yake-Dake. Yake Dake has a famous twin Asama-yama, which is near Karuizawa. Interestingly, when one volcano is active the other is resting for its own turn, which has come with mathematical regularity.. The two volcanoes are about fifty miles apart.
