This an original 1922 pochoir print of a variety of embroidered fabric designs and lace (broderies, dentelles) adorning the dresses worn by upper-class French women during the reign of Louis XIV (1574 - 1643). Please note that fig. 10 has applied gold ink which appears brown in our digital image. Fig. 12 has applied silver ink which appears gray in our digital image.

Period Paper has obtained a beautiful collection of original pochoir prints of French costumes and clothing design for women covering the period from 1037 to 1870. This rare collection was printed by zincography, a printing process of engraving or etching on zinc plates, and colored in pochoir, a process of hand painting using stencils, or pochoirs, on each image. This painstaking process captures the smallest detail of each costume, making this an extraordinary artistic as well as historic collection of costume images.
