This is an original 1922 sepia rotogravure of the cityscape of Istanbul (Constantinople), Turkey. Also shown is a portrait of Mohammed VI, the Sultan of Turkey. The caption writes, "Constantinople, one of the oldest and most famous cities of the world. It was formerly Byzantium and was captured by the Turks in 1453, since when it has remained their their possession. It stands at the junction of Europe and Asia, separated at this point by the Bosporus."
