This is an original 1922 sepia rotogravure of Mount Vernon, the plantation home of United States president, George Washington, located near Alexandria, Virginia. Shown in the top image is the portico of the estate, and in the lower image is an aerial view of the grounds. The caption to the lower image writes, "In the year 1743 George Washington's elder brother built this noble mansion of an eminence commanding the Potomac, fourteen miles from the present city of Washington. Washington's tomb is on the estate and is visited annually by thousands of pilgrims from all over the world."
