This is an original 1922 sepia rotogravure of the monoplane DH-29, a seaplane on fish patrol, and a Lawson all-metal plane. The latter made a flight in 1920 from Omaha to Central Park making only one stop along the way. The center caption writes, "Seaplane starting on fish patrol. The fish scout occupies a forward position, and is shown in the act of releasing a pigeon to convey a message to the home station that fish have been sighted. On receipt of the message fishing vessels start out to the place indicated. The white spot below the bow of the plane is a pigeon."
