This is an original 1922 sepia rotogravure of Russians experimenting with communist theories during the Russian Civil War. In the top image, the barter system is being used where civilians could exchange surplus items for other goods. The bottom image shows a peasant university, led by Zinovieff, to help with literacy rates.
