This is an original 1922 sepia rotogravure of the Statue of Liberty on post at Liberty Island in the New York Harbor. The statue was created by Frédéric Bartholdi of France and dedicated in 1886. Represented in the sculpture is the Roman goddess of freedom, Libertas, and in her hands is a torch and a tablet depicting the Declaration of Independence. The caption writes, "World-famous statue that stands on Bedlow's island at the entrance to New York harbor, where it has thrilled millions of Americans as well as immigrants coming to this land of freedom and opportunity.
