This is an original 1922 sepia rotogravure of Australians and British troops around Egypt during World War I. The top image shows the British camel corps in the Sudan. The center image shows Australians camping on the Suez Canal, and the bottom image shows the Australians camping at the base of the pyramids in Giza, Egypt. The caption for the middle image writes, "Australians' camp on the edge of the Suez Canal, for the defense of which the British decided to take the offensive against the Turks on the Palestinian frontier. The Australians were best qualified for this work, as their climatic conditions at home more nearly approached those prevailing in Egypt."
