This is an original 1922 sepia rotogravure of the destruction of a village near Gorlice, Poland (Polska). The bottom image shows a German officer inspecting a Russian trench after it had been emptied of its occupants. The caption writes, "German officer inspecting a Russian trench after it had been captured and its occupants either killed or taken prisoners. The enormous strength of the position with its barbed-wire barricades and innumerable sandbags is apparent."
