This is an original 1922 sepia rotogravure of the first American Expeditionary Forces arriving on French soil. The lower image shows the Rainbow Division surrounded by French civilians and musicians. The caption writes, "Part of the Rainbow Division who had passed through the perils of the submarine zone and reached French territory. Their coming was unheralded, but the news spread like wildfire, and the people turned out en masse to welcome them."
