Eugene Willford "Gene" Markey (1895-1980)

Gene Markey was not only a skilled author and screenwriter, he was also a naval officer who dabbled in producing movies. His sketches were what first got him into the artistic scene, attending the Art Institute of Chicago until 1920. Nine years later saw him in Hollywood, were he became a screenwriter and had the chance to work with a myriad of Hollywood's rising and risen stars. He was a charming conversationalist, enjoyed the company of four wives in succession, and thoroughly enjoyed all of his pets and thoroughbred horses.
