This is an original 1923 halftone print of the Great Wall of China at Nankow Pass, one of the two passes of the Juyongguan or Juyong Pass. This print shows the section of the Long Rampart which was most familiar to the tourist. This pass was a much-used caravan route from China into Mongolia. The Great Wall of China consist of a series of stones and fortifications situated in northern China. It was designated by the UNESCO was World Heritage Site in 1987. Photograph by J. T. McGarvey.
