This is an original 1923 halftone print comparing two images, the bottom one depicting the ruins at the Gate of Herculaneum in Pompeii. The top image depicts a recreation of the Gate of Herculaneum in all of its glory. In the recreation you can see three archways, two civilian and one utility passage ways. This particular structure being depicted is believed to be dated from the time of Augustus.
