This is an original 1924 black and white halftone print of Hotel Washington on the Atlantic side of the Panama Canal, in the then unincorporated territory controlled by the United States government. Built as a housing facility for the American construction crews, the hotel was constructed in the township of Cristobal, which was essential in the construction of the Panama Canal in the early 1900s, as it was the main port for construction equipment and supplies.
