This is an original 1926 black and white halftone print of the interior of Sokollî Mehmed Pasha Mosque. This mosque is unique as it was built on a sloped plane, which for the structure of a mosque is less than ideal, however, the architect Mimar Sinan, had the idea to create a two story courtyard filled with shops which would financially and literally support the mosque. Unfortunately, these shops now lie in ruins, but their structures still support the mosque.
