Henry Bacon
Henry Bacon (1839-1912) was an American artist hailing from Haverhill, Massachusetts, prior to relocating to France, where he received his formal art education at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. He was most recognized for his mosaics, illustrations, fresco murals and paintings, as well as his impressionism and realism styles. BaconÕs art primarily centered on architecture, animals, marine and nautical, cityscapes, the Civil War, portraits, genre, figures, coastal views, and historical subjects. His art has been exhibited at the Centennial International Exhibition of 1876 (Philadelphia WorldÕs Fair), the Exposition Universelle of 1889 (Paris WorldÕs Fair), the Art Institute of Chicago, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, the National Academy of Design, the Boston Art Club, the Paris Salons, the Boston Athenaeum and more. He was also affiliated with the Brooklyn Art Association.
