1928 Print Rila Monastery Casket View Dead Saint John Wrist Bulgaria Altar TRV1

This is an original 1928 halftone print of of the Rila Monastery in the Rila Mountains of Bulgaria. This picture shows the radiant iconostasis, frescoes covering the walls and ceiling and a black casket holding the body of St. John. On rare occasions the casket is opened and pilgrims are permitted to view the wrist of the saint's left hand.
