This is an original 1929 black and white halftone print of the Hôtel des Invalides in Paris, France. This structure, founded by Louis XIV around 1670, was used to house disabled veterans. Today (1929), the building serves as a museum of arms and houses only approximately 80 veterans, who act as guides. In 1898, the seat of French military affairs was relocated to this site. Beneath the dome is Napoleon's tomb. To the right of the rectangular court (slightly above and to the left of the main structure) is the railway coach where the Armistice was signed.
