Blanche McManus Mansfield

Blanche McManus Mansfield (1870-1929) was an internationally known artist and writer native to East Feliciana, Louisiana. During the early 1900s, Mansfield spent time traveling Europe and Africa with her husband Francis Miltoun (Milburg Francisco Mansfield), where the two created an illustrated travelog of their time in the regions. Mansfield is most recognized for her paintings, printmaking, illustrations and graphic art design mediums. Her works primarily centered on animals, figures and genre subjects. However, Mansfield was also well known for her series of illustrations for childrenÕs books. MansfieldÕs art had been exhibited at the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition (St. Louis WorldÕs Fair).
