This is an original 1929 halftone print of a log jam, and lumberjacks eating their noontime lunch in the woods during winter. The images were taken in Wisconsin. The lumber industry controlled much of the northern part of the state during the middle of the 1800s. Heavy deforestation led the state to transfer to dairy production to make better use of their land.
