This is an original 1930 black and white print ad for The Australia Hotel in Sydney. This historic hotel was erected around 1889. The building was rich in architectural prominence. The hotel boasted a black glass staircase, a mahogany Victorian grand staircase, an Italian marble foyer, a Carrara marble Neoclassical staircase, squared columns, a Moorish Lounge, Italian chandeliers, a white marble operating fountain, a Winter Garden and more. In 1968, the hotel was purchased by MLC Insurance and Finance, who demolished the historic hotel to construct a 35-story office skyscraper, named the MLC Centre. By 2000, the National Australia Bank had purchased MLC.
