This is an original 1930 black and white halftone print of the Evangeline Statue with is located at the National Historic Site in Grand Pré, Nova Scotia, Canada. This statue was modeled after a character from an epic poem called Evangeline, A Tale of Acadie by American poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow in 1847.

The Memorial Church of Grand-Pré is shown in the background. This church is a memorial to the Acadian men and boys who were read the deportation order on September 5, 1755. They and their families were then held captive for a month by British troops until the ships arrived to transport them to their new homes across the British colonies.
